Summary

Six roses。 Six vials of blood。 Six visits to a vampire who could be her salvation… or her damnation。 Lilith has been dying since the day she was born。 But while she long ago came to terms with her own imminent death, the deaths of everyone she loves is an entirely different matter。 As her town slowly withers in the clutches of a mysterious god-cursed illness, she takes matters into her own hands。 Desperate to find a cure, Lilith strikes a bargain with the only thing the gods hate even more than her village: a vampire, Vale。 She offers him six roses in exchange for six vials of vampire blood—the one hope for her town’s salvation。 But when what begins as a simple transaction gradually becomes something more, Lilith is faced with a terrifying realization: It’s dangerous to wander into the clutches of a vampire… and in a place already suffering a god’s wrath, more dangerous still to fall in love with one。 Six Scorched Roses is a standalone fantasy romance novella set in the world of the Crowns of Nyaxia series, perfect for those who love dark, romantic tales with bite and fans of Sarah J。 Maas or Jennifer L。 Armentrout。

[March 23, 2023] What a perfect little novella。 I loved stepping back into the world of Nyaxia。 This has a very different feel from The Serpent and the Wings of Night; it's slower, more romantic and focuses on the characters vs action and world-building。 I loved every bit of it。 I don't know how Carissa Broadbent got me to fall in love with Vale and Lilith in only 170 pages, but somehow she did。 I'm obsessed。 Like OTP level obsessed with them。 Lilith is such a unique FMC。 She is strong, but in a [March 23, 2023] What a perfect little novella。 I loved stepping back into the world of Nyaxia。 This has a very different feel from The Serpent and the Wings of Night; it's slower, more romantic and focuses on the characters vs action and world-building。 I loved every bit of it。 I don't know how Carissa Broadbent got me to fall in love with Vale and Lilith in only 170 pages, but somehow she did。 I'm obsessed。 Like OTP level obsessed with them。 Lilith is such a unique FMC。 She is strong, but in a different way than most other fantasy female leads。 Her strength lies in her mind and her curiosity。 I related to her desire to know more, as well her struggle to connect with other people。 As much as I loved Oraya from The Serpent and the Wings of Night, it's refreshing to see characters that are a little more human and relatable。 If you've read the first book in there series, you'll definitely see the connection between this novel and the main storyline。 While the plot in this takes a backseat to the romance, this novella does broaden the world of Nyaxia。 What's so beautiful is this little book stands all on it's own。 So, if you haven't read book 1– no problem!! You can jump right in to this novella with no confusion。 Either way, I highly recommend both! This is truly fantasy-romance at it's finest。 ~Final Thoughts~ I cannot wait to see more of Vale and Lilith in future Nyaxia novels, cause this novella definitely was NOT enough。 。。。more

I have quickly become a huge fan of Carissa Broadbent’s books。 To date, after reading this one I have read all she has written and I am nothing short of obsessed。 Six Scorched Roses was a novella I didn’t know I needed。 Short and sweet, it told a tale of sickness, recovery and love。 It was interesting to read a book where I can’t help but feel the MC is on the spectrum, not understanding social cues and finding touch odd。 I loved this book so much, it was over too soon。 I really hope we see Lili I have quickly become a huge fan of Carissa Broadbent’s books。 To date, after reading this one I have read all she has written and I am nothing short of obsessed。 Six Scorched Roses was a novella I didn’t know I needed。 Short and sweet, it told a tale of sickness, recovery and love。 It was interesting to read a book where I can’t help but feel the MC is on the spectrum, not understanding social cues and finding touch odd。 I loved this book so much, it was over too soon。 I really hope we see Lilith and Vale in future books in the Crowns of Nyaxia world! 。。。more

5 ⭐️ This was the perfect novella! I absolutely loved this story and meeting these new characters and also being back in the world of Serpent and the Wings of Night。 Vale is an absolute hottie and Lilith is so quirky that I absolutely loved her! The way the two of them compliment eachother and the whole forbidden romance of it all was so well done。 Very excited for the next book!

MAAAAAATEthis honestly was such an incredible addition to this series。 Lilith as a character was so fun to read。 She had a lot of autistic traits which made me connect so deeply with her and I want to tell her she’s a fucking boss。 Go science!!!!And Vale was so soft I cry。 SO SOFT。 He adores everything about Lilith。 It’s so fucking sweet。I actually wish we would get another book from these two I want to see MORE NOOOOWWWWW 😭 but I know they’ll be in the second book but it’s not enough。 Me adding MAAAAAATEthis honestly was such an incredible addition to this series。 Lilith as a character was so fun to read。 She had a lot of autistic traits which made me connect so deeply with her and I want to tell her she’s a fucking boss。 Go science!!!!And Vale was so soft I cry。 SO SOFT。 He adores everything about Lilith。 It’s so fucking sweet。I actually wish we would get another book from these two I want to see MORE NOOOOWWWWW 😭 but I know they’ll be in the second book but it’s not enough。 Me adding Carissa to my list of authors who are an instant read as we speak x 。。。more

spectacular novellaCarissa Broadbent has become an auto-but author for me。 Ever since War of Lost Hearts, she’s owned me。 Lilith and Vale were so enjoyable here。 It’s a quick read, but nothing about it feels rushed。 We can see development of plot, characters, and world here, and it is absolutely fascinating to see the magic / gods at work。 Everything is rich, well-written, a touch steamy, and I was sucked into the world and the mystery immediately。 I have a feeling we will see more of these two spectacular novellaCarissa Broadbent has become an auto-but author for me。 Ever since War of Lost Hearts, she’s owned me。 Lilith and Vale were so enjoyable here。 It’s a quick read, but nothing about it feels rushed。 We can see development of plot, characters, and world here, and it is absolutely fascinating to see the magic / gods at work。 Everything is rich, well-written, a touch steamy, and I was sucked into the world and the mystery immediately。 I have a feeling we will see more of these two and I cannot wait。 。。。more

I needed at least 500 more pages of this story。 This was stunning。 This was beautiful。 My heart is so happy it experienced it but so sad that it’s over。 Lilith my queen - you are a masterpiece。

3。7⭐i really wish that this instead of a novella was a full book, I knew that there must be insta-love so the story could move on but i just can't get along with that trope。however, this was cute and entertaining and i love being back in this world。 can't wait for the actual second book coming in April。 3。7⭐i really wish that this instead of a novella was a full book, I knew that there must be insta-love so the story could move on but i just can't get along with that trope。however, this was cute and entertaining and i love being back in this world。 can't wait for the actual second book coming in April。 。。。more

I thought Serpent and the Wings of Night was such a great book, and can't wait for book 2。 This novella was perfect to hold me over until book 2 in the series becomes available。 I loved everything about this book。 The characters, the storyline, and the romance。 Carissa, you sure know what you are doing。 I thought Serpent and the Wings of Night was such a great book, and can't wait for book 2。 This novella was perfect to hold me over until book 2 in the series becomes available。 I loved everything about this book。 The characters, the storyline, and the romance。 Carissa, you sure know what you are doing。 。。。more

Amazing, that’s all I can say。 I’m not really a fan of novellas, but leave it to Carrissa to develop characters and plot with such depth in such a short amount of time。 So glad to hear that will see more of Lilith and Vale going forward。 Can’t wait for the next book!

Kassidy

A fun, well rounded novella。 I liked the contained plot, characters and how it expanded nicely on The Serpent and the Wings of Night。

I was already SO excited for The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King, I am absolutely ITCHING for it now。 Omg。 I loved this little novella。 I’m not usually a huge fan of them but this was soooooooo good。 I am so excited to see Lilith and Vale again in the upcoming books 🤩 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

This story was less then 200 pages long。 But so much was packed into it! I can’t get enough of the Nyaxia world!!! Carissa had done it again! This book was a beautiful short story! I loved the Lilith’s struggles with who she was, her familial ties to her sister, her devotion to her town, and her own wants and desires。 She was flawed and relatable and I was rooting for her throughout the story。 I also loved seeing Vale’s walls come down as he found something to believe in again。 I hope to see more of them in the next Crowns of Nyaxia book!

"He was eternity while I was impermanence。"A short and sweet standalone novella set in the same world as The Serpent and the Wings of Night, which was one of my favorite romantic fantasy reads of last year。 It's a testament to the incredible character work I've come to expect from Carissa Broadbent that she had me completely attached to these characters and wholly invested in and moved by their love story in under 200 pages。An immortal vampire driven to nihilistic cynicism after centuries of "He was eternity while I was impermanence。"A short and sweet standalone novella set in the same world as The Serpent and the Wings of Night, which was one of my favorite romantic fantasy reads of last year。 It's a testament to the incredible character work I've come to expect from Carissa Broadbent that she had me completely attached to these characters and wholly invested in and moved by their love story in under 200 pages。An immortal vampire driven to nihilistic cynicism after centuries of brutality is challenged by the unabashed empathy and passion of a mortal girl who bravely decides to seek his help in a desperate attempt to solve the mysterious illness slowly eating her village away。 Her humanity helps awaken a vulnerability and sense of purpose he'd long buried, and a beautiful love story unfolds from there。If you're a fan of romantic fantasy, Carissa Broadbent is the real deal。 Her books have yet to miss for me。 。。。more

I love Carissa’s writing as always, but this was not on par with her other works。 I could not connect to the characters at all, which could be more so due to the novella format。 However, I still found both Lilith and Vale to be a bit boring and uninteresting。 I also simply did not enjoy the plot, which is kind of a personal issue。 I have read many fantasy books with an fmc that is some sort of “healer” and I usually do not like this as a plot point。 This novella wasn’t bad but there was nothing I love Carissa’s writing as always, but this was not on par with her other works。 I could not connect to the characters at all, which could be more so due to the novella format。 However, I still found both Lilith and Vale to be a bit boring and uninteresting。 I also simply did not enjoy the plot, which is kind of a personal issue。 I have read many fantasy books with an fmc that is some sort of “healer” and I usually do not like this as a plot point。 This novella wasn’t bad but there was nothing special about it and it definitely didn’t evoke strong emotions in me like Carissa’s books usually do。 。。。more
